Start with the work you want to perform and the skills you already hold. Military vehicle operation, logistics, teamwork and safety experience can inform a pathway; employers still require evidence for the duties they assign. GWO safety and basic technical training do not confer unsupervised technician competence.
3t publishes ELCAS-approved Military to Wind and oil-and-gas BOOST Level 3 programmes. OEG publishes an ELCAS wind package and separate CTP support in Liverpool. Fleetwood also offers offshore, wind and maritime courses. Each programme has its own admission, fitness, funding and assessment checks.
ELC lower tier normally requires six qualifying years, with an older exception for four years completed before 1 April 2017. Your adviser must also check the discharge window, remaining claims and any applicable exception.
CTP and IRTC are separate from ELC. Four-to-six-year service leavers normally have Employment Support Programme access within the standard resettlement window; this does not automatically fund a chosen course.
OEG lists BST, BTT, Enhanced First Aid and Advanced Rescue in its ELCAS wind package. Confirm the current Level 3 award, provider ID, admission criteria and excluded medical or slinger-signaller costs.
Military to Wind leads to a Level 3 Diploma; BOOST leads to a Level 3 offshore-operations safety Certificate. These differ from commercial new-starter packages. Ask the military team on 0191 341 0248 for the exact approved course and quote.

3t delivers the training. MOD education staff or your Single Service Representative approve the claim; ELCAS administers it. Offshore Personnel provides guidance and does not approve funding or take course payments.
ELC support is the lower of 80% of the eligible fee and your approved claim limit. You pay the balance and any excluded costs. These are illustrative figures, not provider quotes.

Ask 3t or OEG for the exact approved provider ID, qualification/course code, module list, admission requirements, dates, venue and full VAT-inclusive fee. Establish the cost of excluded items.
Use the ELCAS member service and the evidence requested by your adviser. Current service-leaver guidance requires at least 15 working days before the course/registration date; allow extra time for checks and provider deadlines.
Obtain the Claim Authorisation Note (CAN), give it to the named provider and pay the required personal contribution. The CAN must match the programme and provider. Retrospective claims are not permitted.
CTP support is a separate entitlement: four to six years of service normally leads to the Employment Support Programme, within the standard resettlement window. It does not automatically pay for any chosen course. Confirm IRTC, CTP training and ELC options with your adviser.
Decision sequence
Use a controlled sequence so the course supports a real role and the resulting evidence can be assessed accurately.
Prepare your home area, CV, qualifications, driving/plant experience, service dates and intended occupation. Provide service documents only through the official adviser or provider's secure process.
A centre may accept you on a course while your funding claim is ineligible. Ask for both the course admission checklist and the approved funding route.
Compare approved course fees, personal contribution, medicals, travel, accommodation and time away from work. Check local adult-skills support if ELC is unavailable.
Confirm how training leads to supervised experience, workplace competence and employer authorisation. A certificate does not reserve a job or placement.
