OEG Training publishes a broad renewables and industrial catalogue covering GWO basic safety and technical learning, advanced rescue, enhanced first aid, lifting, IRATA rope access, ICATS coatings, City & Guilds confined-space training, medical assessments and Wind Turbine Safety Rules.

That breadth allows workers to follow a role-specific route. A technician may need GWO technical modules, a rope-access painter may need both IRATA and coatings competence, and a lifting worker may need slinger-signaller or crane-and-hoist training. Nobody should enrol in every available course.

Wind safety and WTSR

OEG lists GWO Basic Safety Training, working at height, manual handling, sea survival, fire awareness, first aid and Wind Turbine Safety Rules. WTSR is not the same as STCW.

Technical and lifting

Published options include GWO Basic Technical Training, bolt tightening, slinger signaller and crane-and-hoist user, inspection and maintenance courses.

Rope access and coatings

The catalogue lists IRATA levels and revalidation plus ICATS industrial coating, abrasive-blasting and spraying routes for workers whose productive trade needs them.

Military transition

OEG publishes an ELCAS-funded ITC Level 3 Certificate in Safe Working Practice in the Wind Turbine Industry from its Liverpool centre. Scheme and learner eligibility must be confirmed.

No. Select modules against a real target role and employer specification. Unnecessary training adds cost and does not replace occupational competence.

Is OEG training only relevant to wind technicians?

No. Its published categories can also be relevant to rope-access workers, lifting personnel, coating applicators and other wind-project roles where the course matches their duties.

Does OEG training guarantee access to OEG work?

No. Training and recruitment decisions are separate. Any employer or contractor portal applies its own experience, competence and vacancy requirements.

Does OEG currently list STCW courses?

The public OEG catalogue reviewed by Offshore Personnel lists WTSR, GWO, IRATA, ICATS, ALLMI, City & Guilds and related courses, but we did not verify a current STCW course. STCW will only be added if OEG confirms an official route.
